Jakarta http://Burusergap.id – A Foreign Citizen from China, Mr Dong Dayong, was found dead in his apartment located on the 10th floor of the Menteng Executive Apartment, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The deceased had been working at a nickel company, PT Virtual Dragon Nickel Industry, who has an office in the Autograph Building, in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area, Central Jakarta.
According to the deceased’s family, Ms Shi Jing, who arrived in Indonesia the day after the late Dayong’s death, she was devastated by the sudden incident. “On December 14, I was still talking to Dayong on the phone, and there were no signs that anything fatal would happen. Indeed, he had been to the hospital, but he said his health was getting better. However, the next day, December 15, when I tried to contact him several times, his phone was not answered,” said Shi Jing sadly to the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Citizen Journalists Association, Wilson Lalengke, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
The body of the deceased, add Shi Jing, has not been cremated yet and is still being stored in a hospital designated by the Indonesian police. She also added that the case has not been completed by the authorities. The apartment where the deceased lived is still under police line, which prevents her from packing Mr Dong Dayong’s personal belongings.
One of Shi Jing’s biggest concerns right now is the cremation process of Dayong’s body, whose ashes will then be brought back to China. As many say that given the deceased was working at a nickel smelter company in Morosi, Southeast Sulawesi, she hopes that the company where Dayong worked will provide compensation for the death.
Foreign people always hope the company where they work will not ignore its workers’ death. “They must provide proper compensation and benefits, considering that Dayong has worked hard to grow the company. Also, he has an elderly mother whose living cost must be supported. His families want to make sure that the rights of the deceased and the family he left behind are taken care of,” as it is understood.
Shi Jing who looks quite strong in facing this difficult situation also hopes that the Chinese Government, through the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta, can help the process of resolving the compensation rights of PT VDNI. “I will wait until all the processes of resolving Dayong’s death case are complete, including the compensation and cremation process, then I will return to China,” she said with full hope that this problem will soon be resolved.
